When running a small business I sometimes feel as if my inbox is my enemy. It is constantly battling me for time and sometimes wins. But I have some great time and sanity saving tools that are must use apps for GMail.
1. The Email Game– We all know how easy it is to take a day off from checking email and how quickly there will be hundreds if not thousands to sift through. I use the email game to quickly sort through the mess and realize that huge portion of what is waiting in my inbox is junk. Do I really need all the ads from stores?
2. Boomerang– This apps is really a life saver at times. Sometimes you are sitting around waiting (or watching your children play at the park) and decide to skim through your email. Notice something important but am not really in the postion to respond to it. How do you keep from forgetting about it? I boomerang it back to myself. I set a time when I know that I will be in my office and can spend the proper amount of time need on giving a response. This app also allows me to schedule emails to send at a more appropriate time. Just because I tend to work in the middle of the night doesn’t mean that the person I am sending this email to does. And I want to schedule the email to send so that it doesn’t get lost in the overnight emails that usually end up getting trashed.
3. Streak– This app is not for everyone. But is for those who are building a business and gaining leads and sales. It really helps to sort out clients into proper lists.
4. Canned Responses– Do you find yourself sending the same email over and over? It can be a HUGE time saver to create a canned response so that the next time you need to politely tell a brand that you are not interested in reviewing their product for free- you can send your repitch within seconds. This is also helpful if you plan on hiring a VA.
The more automated you make your business from the beginning the easier it will be to create workflows that you can train others to do for you. So invest a few minutes and save what could be hours of the next couple of years.
Do you have apps that you use within your email to make running your blog or business easier? Please leave them in the comments below so that I can check them out.
