So now that you have set up a website for your business and added a blog you might find it overwhelming to keep up with all of the tasks that come with blogging and not feel the need to write on a regular basis. This is why creating a consistent blog schedule is essential to becoming a successful blogger. There are many reasons why you should be writing new content and publishing on a regular basis to help grow your website and increase traffic to you site and store.
1. Publishing new content is awesome for SEO.
This is so true. The more fresh content you have on your site for the search engines to index the better. If you want to be known as an “expert” in a certain topic the more you write about it the sooner Google will figure out that you know a lot about that subject. Your blog posts will rank higher and new readers will find your site more easily.
2. New Content attracts new visitors and brings past readers back for more.
If you rarely publish a blog posts then why would readers even take time to remember your site. They may occasionally see a link a social media and click over but unless you have tons of content they can read they will be less likely to remember your site or ever even come back to it. And if you build a loyal base of readers they will share your new posts and that means new eyes on your site.
3. Your readers love consistency.
Yes, your readers will come to expect that every week or day you will post something they want to see. And they will be “stalking” your site waiting for the post to go live. Don’t leave them guessing. Set a certain time and day for posts to go live so that they can work it into their daily routines.
Let’s face it the whole reason you are creating a consistent blog schedule is for your readers. Without them you would be just filling up the cyber world with lots of unwanted blog posts.
4. Writing on a regular basis will make you a better writer.
This is awesome all around. It goes without saying that the more you do something the better you will become at it. This is especially true for writing. Just by writing on a regular basis you will be a better writer. You will create better content. You will develop a method that will save you time and increase how often you can publish new content. I like to spend at least 3o minutes every day writing. This doesn’t mean that I hit publish on everything I write, I have quite a few unfinished drafts that I felt passionate about at the time and fell to wayside. And these can come in handy when I have a slump day or want to schedule a vacation by having an arsenal of posts ready to go.
5. You will build momentum and it will be hard to stop.
This ties in to number four. The more you write and publish the more excited you will be to keep doing it. Especially when you see a positive response from your readers. You will learn what they love and will be eager to give them more content just like it. This will create an unstoppable force.
These were all lessons that I learned the hard way. I want to have a blog that attracts readers that love my content. But I found that writing an awesome post every couple of weeks just isn’t enough. Sure I would share it on social media and it would generate some traffic but I want readers to come back again and again. I know that they will only do this if I have something new for them to read. It was a hard time for me to find the focus and dedication to get to this point and I made it my top goal for 2015 and this is not something I will fail on twice.
I found a great network of bloggers that help to keep each other motivated and push one another to keep going and this makes the world of difference. Sometimes when blogging you feel like a lone voice in a noisy world and screaming “come read what I have to say” never gets heard. But by finding this amazing group and sharing what works and motivating each other will help. I strongly encourage you to join if you are new blogger, thinking about starting a blog or an veteran blogger. You can find this group on Facebook (yep, it’s free) or take the next step and join the VIP Forum for a few dollars a month. I actively participate in both and am seeing the change in my mindset.
