In the blogging world it is well known that WordPress is the platform of choice. But how well have you taken the time to get to know the ins and outs of this awesome platform. You can really make WordPress work for you and your blog with some great tweaks. In this tutorial I will walk you through how to update your favicon, that little photo that shows up in the browser tab. There are a few ways to go about this depending on your skill level and comfort level with updating code. The easiest way for most is to use a plugin, that will be the method that I am showing you how to use today. If you are feeling more adventurous and want to create a tiny .ico and hard code into your WordPress theme, then this is not the tutorial for you today.
All in One Favicon, this is the simplest way to update your favicon. This plugin allows you set the front end favicon and an apple touch id just by uploading the image you wish to use. This plugin also allows you to set a different favicon for the backend of your site.
Before you get started you will want to back up your WordPress site. This is always advised before making any changes because it will make it much easier to roll back if you have conflicts among plugins or with the theme.
After you have downloaded, installed, and activated the plugin in your WordPress site you are ready to get started with adding your custom Favicon to your site.
Once the plugin is activated just go to settings and select All in One Favicon. From here you will be able to upload the image that you want to use as your favicon. Simply upload the image to the ICO front end, PNG front end, and Apple Touch ID (if desired). Save and you are done. You can also add these to the same options for the Backend of your site. This simply means that you will see your favicon when signed into the dashboard. Depending on your site is set up, this may or may not matter to you.
Now that you know how to update your favicon this should be an easy update for your WordPress blog. There are many benefits that you will see once you have updated your favicon, especially on Pinterest. Now when you have content shared and the source is shown it will also show your favicon.
